Oh dear!

Have a look at this website and see what you think. My reaction was one of disgust and all I could say was: Oh dear!

Pope Benedict if you are reading this humble blog please give us the Exhortation on the Eucharist and the Motu Proprio!

P.S If anyone can tell me the significance of the vomit green coloured thing around her neck I'd be glad to hear from you!

I think the photographer maybe feels the same as you. The caption "Vorgetäuschte Messe?" means "Feigned/pretend Mass?".

Well, if it's not Los Angeles it must be Linz, and by golly it is!

My German is execrable, and Babelfish only gave me a so-so understanding of the picture by picture descriptions. Perhaps a German speaker could oblige? (There are seven pictures in all - the mystery of the green thing is revealed in picture 4.)

It's a cowboy scarf for what looks like a cowboy "service"

Here goes my awful translation:

TITLE:
Vorgetäuschte Messe? - "Pretend Mass?"

PICTURE 1:

Carnival Service on 18 February in the Welser Parish of St Francis.

PICTURE 2:

Ecclesiastically the Parish belongs to the Diocese of Linz.

PICTURE 3:

To this 'fools Service' the children came in traditional clothing, according(?) to the Parish homepage.

PICTURE 4:

The Parish assistant also disguised herself--as a Priestess with a hat.

PICTURE 5:

The deplorable state of affairs in the St Francis Parish has been known for years.

PICTURE 6:

The Bishop of Linz, Mgr. Ludwig Schwarz, fails to assist the everyday liturgical life of his Diocese by his silence.

PICTURE 7:

The service was organised by the Childrens Liturgy Circle.

The last comment reminded me of the story of a wealthy film star who's young son asked for a cowboy outfit for Christmas - so he bought him the Archdiocese of Los Angeles!
